The eastern portal at the erstwhile Atlantic Junction is still there. It was dark and I was in a hurry and the lack of tripod meant that the pics are crap but never mind, they are better than nowt. Another view of the top of the eastern portal. It was absolutely pitch dark and I couldn’t see anything above the top of the portal.

Inside, there are sewers (or somert) going over the top showing how shallow the tunnel is. I have a picture in my mind of a builder's bum gang of workers laying the sewers. They are happily digging up the streets with a fag in the corner of their mouths; then, suddenly, one disappears and lands on his arse in the tunnel. The western end is buried. About 70yds of water has backed up to the infill. I had my wellies on and got about half way into the water before it began to tip over the top. You can just see the infil in the distance. Note, the Canal is immediately above at this point.
